Ryan Wilson was killed by a Taser on August 4th, 2006 by Lafayette Police Officer John Harris while fleeing the scene of an alleged plot of eleven or so marijuana plants in a field of 94th St. and Hecla Dr in Louisville, CO.  At no time did Ryan engage or threaten the officer.

His manner of death has sparked outrage within the community of Boulder County Colorado.  The police have several options of force available to them.  In Ryan’s case, Officer John Harris proved to be a coward in the line of duty by opting to tase and kill, rather than confront with conventional non-lethal techniques.  His judgment in the field, in my opinion, was reckless and negligent.

At the time of Ryan’s death, his autopsy report stated he was 6’1” tall and 142 pounds.  His toxicology report proved his blood was clear of all drugs, opiates and alcohol.  Law enforcement’s usual excuse in Taser deaths is “Excited Delirium”.  This was not the case due to lack of drugs in Ryan’s system.

Boulder County D.A. Mary Lacy investigated and refused to charge Officer John Harris.  The LPD investigated and cleared Harris, who has also used his taser in the past.

Ryan’s father has retained counsel and intends to sue in civil court on behalf of Ryan’s estate.

Updates !!  Updates !!  Updates !!

09/20/07 - Not much going on at this time.  I'm still here, still scanning the media and Googling all things Ryan and Taser related.  I recently went through two boxes of family photos and have a nice collection of pictures of Ryan and I intend to post them in the Forum section within the next few days.  I may also change his picture here on the site's homepage.  I'm still trying to feed this tragedy to national news outlets, but thus far no one is picking it up.  I'm not giving up!

08/14/07 - This website now ranks #1 in the Google search engine when searching for Ryan Michael Wilson.  Now with two lawsuits now pending in Boulder District Court, things are expected to get quiet.  I suspect even less information will be coming from the Lafayette Police Department.  I'm still expecting copies of both suits coming from Boulder.  When I get them you can read about there here.

08/07/07 - I'm hesitant to post anything just yet about the lawsuit filed on behalf of Ryan's estate until I receive a copy of the clocked and filed suit.  Once I get a filed copy and I'm assured it's filed into public record  I intend to post it here online.   I personally have both the draft and final copies but will not post anything unless it's in the public record.  Also, there's huge news that Ryan's mother Wendy has filed her own separate lawsuit - read about it here.  Again, once I receive a filed and clocked copy of the complaint I will post it here.  Check back often.   Also, Wendy has developed her own website.  Its name is "Rhythm Forced Melody".  Nice detailed timeline of events.  You should check it out.  Go here to see what's posted there.  RyanMichaelWilson.Com is now ranked #2 in Google when searching Ryan Michael Wilson, #3 when searching Ryan Wilson Taser, #5 when searching Officer John Harris and #1 when searching Officer John Harris LPD.  The word is getting out!  The more bad press John Harris gets the better I feel.

08/01/07 - HUGE NEWS - Ryan's father's lawsuit on behalf of Ryan's estate was filed today !   More information to come.  Check back often.

07/23/07 - The Forum Section is UP!  Come check it out, register quick and free, then participate!  Go to the Forums.  My daughter Karissa suggested I put the updates in reverse order so you don't have to scroll down to see what's new.  Great idea, so I did it!

07/20/07 -  Nothing to report today, and they'll be many days like this.  In the meantime I thought I'd thank everyone for book-marking this site and coming back to check on things.  This site has been up for five days and has received over 300 hits which amounts to about 60 hits per day.  Not bad considering this is a local interest story.  Should this hit on a national level this site is really going to take off.  Thanks again for stopping by and for the supportive emails I've received thus far.  Eli.

07/19/07 - BIG NEWS:  More details coming out from the LPD's internal investigation report.  Officer John Harris' personal attorney, Michael Lowe, apparently getting testy with Sgt. Bill Palmer of the LPD stating he felt police officials were “seeking to find some basis upon which to discipline officer Harris.”.  Could this have been a factor in Harris' exoneration?  There is finally a picture of the knife Harris claims to have seen while chasing Ryan, even though according to statements the law enforcement officers on scene,  including a pair of detectives who were the first to contact Wilson and spoke with him from across a 5-foot wide ditch, Harris was the only one who claimed to see a knife in Wilson’s pocket before the suspect was disabled.  I want every visitor to this website who lives in and around Lafayette, CO or Boulder County to see this knife.  See it here.

07/18/07 - According to an article posted by the Daily Camera today, the investigation report now reveals Officer John Harris' dash cam magically turned itself off during the killing of my nephew, Ryan.   Also, according to Bryan Adair, a police-department applicant who was shadowing Harris that night, Harris said, "Stop, buddy, stop." He then fired the Taser, Adair told police.  This is a direct violation of department policy, yet Chief Paul Schultz exonerates Harris.  This is an outrage and the Mayor of Lafayette, or whomever appointed Schultz needs to force him to retire.  Not only does Schultz water fake plants in his office because he thinks they're real, but he exonerates an officer who violated department policy.

07/17/07 - Ryan's family gets shafted once again.  The expected released of the redacted version of the internal investigation has happened, that is  released to reporters who are only allowed to read it on-site.   The LPD's counsel did not communicate to us their "memo" that the investigation was complete and Harris was exonerated, nor does it appear they will make this redacted report available to Ryan's family either.   If it were not for the press informing us, we'd all be clueless as to what's going on.

07/15/07 – Ryan’s website is now up and running!   Just in time to coincide with the anticipated release of the Lafayette Police Department’s internal investigation.  This investigative report will be redacted by the LPD’s attorneys and Officer John Harris.   Unfortunately, what they deliver will be what they will “allow” us to know.  When it’s released to the public you can read it here.

07/09/07 - During this week it was reported by the Daily Camera (a Boulder newspaper) that Officer John Harris had been exonerated by an internal review process.  This means Harris will be back on the streets patrolling Lafayette packing his X-26 Taser and looking for his next target.  Hope to God this man doesn’t pull you over or you may be his third victim.
